Bicycle load rack to made at the spot
Hello, WorldBikers!
Just found your website and forum. Reason to ask your attention and ask for comments on the contraption I created for Demotech. I published the idea and pictures of "The Load Rack To Be Made At The Spor" at Demotech's website
http://www.demotech.org/d-design/designA.php?d=6
You conplain that donated bikes are unsuitable for large loads. Yes, I agree, but it will take you a very short time and only some sticks and rope to change the little lady's bike into a strong carrier.
The capacity limitation is the strength of the axle of the wheel and the stability of its spokes. The speciality of the construction is that the load in the reacks are directly transferred to the axle and does NOT pass through the frame.
Any further questions? Just ask!
Mail me at info@demotech.org

Nice work
Hi Reinder
This is Andrew fom Worldbike. Nice work. I like the design and the simple materials. I'll keep it in my toolbox while I'm in Kenya over the next year. It probably won't apply directly to the project that we're engaging in (we're working to make those "unavailable" cargo bike more available) but I will pass it on where it seems appropriate to the context. Thanks.
