Tech Lead Ed Lucero's trip to Kisumu a big success!

Here are some highlights of Ed's recent trip to Kenya:

*Brought one prototype long bike for donation to our sponsored
orphanage, the Young Generation Center

*Found the Worldbike shop was still operational, with 3 of the
original 5 employees still there.

*Many Big Bodas still on the road, including our Boda Boda customer
David, who had appeared on the front page of the local paper with his
Big Boda.

*Ed coached the Worldbike team to make two long bikes at the shop. The
second bike was produced almost entirely by the team with minimal
coaching from Ed. And the second was the best of all three long bikes.

* We equipped our shop with some new tools, including a
much-appreciated MIG welder.

* Ed's parts innovations on his long bike -- the 3 speed coaster brake
hub, and the LED generator light, were big hits with the local bike
people.

*The Young Generation Center, Worldbike's sponsored orphanage, has
taken a big step forward since we left. They've used funds that Ed and
I personally donated to create an internet cafe, and have constructed
a 3-story schoolhouse, the largest structure in the Manyatta slum. At
the internet cafe, YGC volunteers have taught our Worldbike employees
how to use email. I have now received emails from Petro and Moses.

* Ed successfully packed up two Big Bodas and eight bread crates, and
transported them by train to Nairobi, where he flew to New York City,
transported himself to the hotel in lower Manhattan, and then pedaling
the Big Boda with the eight bread crates 60 blocks north in the
morning, through New York traffic and Central Park to the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.

* Brought the other Big Boda to New Mexico, where he's ready to
transport it to Denver for the second exhibit in September.

* Squeezed in time to Kayak the Nile in Uganda.
